Goats take Mildred, 53-6.
The Groesbeck Goats opened the 2020 season with a 53-6 win on the road over the Mildred Eagles. Coach Jerry Bomar of the Goats indicated that the offense would be special this season.

I also want to thank a couple of our cheer parents, Tamara Ellison and Crala Pringle, for your donation of masks. GMS cheerleaders have two uniforms this year and will also now have two masks to change out through the season. Groesbeck High is one of 36 Class 3A UIL schools out of 235 3A schools in Texas that has team tennis as a fourth fall sport along with the three standards of football, volleyball, and cross country. Some of the other 35 3A schools are familiar names to Groesbeck Goat coach Jim Longbotham because they are from around this central Texas area or the Goats had previously competed against the Goats in regional and state meets. Those names include Brock, Little River Academy, Cameron Yoe, Big Lake Reagan County, Palestine Westwood, Franklin, Lago Vista, Caldwell, and Vanguard Academy.
Groesbeck High School Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Jerry Bomar was the speaker at the Groesbeck Lions Club on Wednesday, August 8. Bomar was introduced by Lion Roy DeFriend. The speaker spoke to the Lions Club about the athletic program for the 2020-21 school year.
Following opening the season with a 3-0 win on the road at Cayuga August 10, the Groesbeck Lady Goats volleyball team returned home the next day and took out the Chilton Lady Pirates by a similar 3-0 score. The two wins left Groesbeck coach Alice Keeton 2-0 in her debut as a head volleyball coach.
