On the day that the Groesbeck Lady Goats reached their highest ranking in several years in the TGCA state volleyball polls, they got waylaid enough by the Leon Lady Cougars who were recovering from three straight losses that had knocked them totally out of the state polls. The #5 Lady Goats hosted the legendary Lady Cougars on Tuesday, September 1 and proved to be the perfect hosts allowing the pre-season #2 ranked in 2A Leon squad to go home with a 17, 20 and 20 win. The win came on the day that TGCA’s state polls had moved the previously unbeaten Lady Goats up to #5 in the 3A polls. What’s more, the Leon win stopped the Groesbeck streak of 24 sets won without the opponents winning a set.
