Nelson Contracting brought the party to the parade with an Americana themed boat float that won Best Float.

Thornton Homecoming 2025 featured several rodeo events, and though the Rodeo Clown wasn’t in the parade, a child donned the classic clown face in his likeness.

Thornton Volunteer Fire Department showed off the variety of trucks at their disposal during the Thornton Parade, flashing lights and blaring sirens for enthusiastic onlookers.

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions joined Thornton residents for lunch after leading the parade as Grand Marshall, rubbing elbows with constituents and eyeing the winning pies.

Thornton Council member Carla Robison (center) announced the parade entries and winners on Saturday, June 21 through an innovative speaker set up on the bucket of a tractor.

Thornton Chamber of Commerce decorated their float as a tribute to rodeo legend Lane Frost, made famous by the movie 8 Seconds.

Thornton Masonic Lodge entered a 1955 sky blue Chevrolet Tradesman in the parade, winning the title of Best Classic Car. Photos by Alexandra Montoya /The Groesbeck Journal

Thornton’s parade lineup featured floats, boats, ATVs, and more, with the American Flag (held by rider Maddie Pritchard) and Texas Flag (held by rider Emerson Dodd) leading the charge.

Lakota Martin and her grandmother, Beth Hewitt, both earned blue ribbons for riding in the parade- Lakota as the Littlest Cowgirl, and Beth as Oldest Cowgirl.
