The Heritage Society received a nice surprise last week. A daughter of the late Reverend Bill Sealy traveled into town from Iowa, with her young 97-year-old self, Ms. Annie Gene Sealy; along with her daughter, Gail (Neff) Ryan, granddaughter Allison Ryan and fiancee Sean Broderson.
For several years, the City of Kosse petitioned TXDOT for improvements in warning and visibility at the 4-way stop at the intersection of Hwy 7 and Hwy 14. With over 5,000 cars a day going through this intersection, there have been a number of accidents and near misses in recent years.
Since I wasn’t at the Center on Thursday, I don’t have a lot to report except those present. Janice Bilbrey, our site manager who does a fantastic job, Ann Brown who is there helping her get set up each week, Roger and Sharon Watson, Snuffy Bennett, Jo Ann Archer, Sue and Woody Wood, Elizabeth Neason, Gayla Lind, Sammy Cooper Earl Mask, Alma McCurry, Wayne Sharp, Vicky Vaughn, and Neennah German, were having a good time. Never think that the things you do each week to make this possible goes unnoticed, because it doesn’t and we seniors appreciate each kindness shown.
Mika-Lyn Gargis was introduced from Wortham ISD as our Scholarship winner, she was our essay winner in 2018 with her essay on Christopher Columbus. New members installed today were Donnette Bonner and Patricia Mauldin. Other new members not present were Annie Melasky and Brandye Wilson.
American Legion Post 288 presented school awards at GMS this morning. The criteria for the award are given to the school by the local American Legion Post, and a faculty committee makes the selection of the boy and girl. The awards are based on that criteria, being twenty percent of each of the following qualities:
