The following cases were collected from the Limestone County Courthouse offices of the District and County Clerk for April through May 2023. Filed cases are collected around the first of each month. All questions must be handled via the appropriate County office only.
A concerned student reported Monday morning, May 15, that a rifle could be found in a fellow student’s vehicle parked at Groesbeck High School.
Thornton City Council set June 24 as Runoff Election Day for the third council member seat between Kay Alston and Chris Henderson.
During the Public Comment portion of the meeting, Precinct 4 Commissioner Bobby Forest addressed the court and attendees on the topic of property valuations, which are handled by the County Appraisal District.
“I want to stand here as a citizen, not as a commissioner, and make sure that the general public understands, not being critical of the Limestone County Appraisal District because they have a lot of rules they have to follow, but the Appraisal District is not the county; it has nothing to do with this commission, Mexia ISD, the City of Groesbeck, anybody.
The majority of voters seem to be happy with their representation on city council and the school board, as the incumbents won their elections Saturday, May 6. A total of 1,162 ballots were cast in the county according to the Limestone County Elections Administration.
