Saturday, August 15, was a day of a lot of volleyball at the Groesbeck Lady Goat gym as Groesbeck hosted the newly-opened Lake Belton High School and Mildred High School in a volleyball dual match. All three schools had their freshman, junior varsity, and varsity teams participating in the first week of action allowed by the UIL.
Limestone County officials discussed increased revenue and reduced expenses during their first budget workshop for the coming fiscal year Friday, Aug. 14.
Groesbeck City Council voted to offer financial support to the inaugural Groesbeck Grand Prix event set to take place on Labor Day weekend with a donation in the amount of $2,500 in their regular meeting on Tuesday, August 18. City Administrator Chris Henson provided the council with information about the event, which will consist of time trial races by vintage cars at Old Fort Parker, and asked for their support.
During the budget workshop of Groesbeck ISD’s school board meeting on Monday, August 17, Superintendent Dr. James Cowley broke the news of a deficit in the planned budget for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.
