Bricks and more; Groesbeck Reds

With the Groesbeck Heritage Festival rapidly approaching on May 28, 29, 30, we will celebrate our 150th Anniversary (or as some call it, Sesquicentennial). It is fitting to look back on many of the events and businesses that contributed. In a recent issue, the coming of the railroad was recognized as the event that brought Groesbeck into existence and gave us our name after a director of the railroad townsite company. Early businesses were established to provide sustenance and supplies for local consumption. Later, as the town grew, others were established that reached far beyond the confines of a small town and its limited needs. Lumber and nails were being replaced by bricks and mortar for more permanent construction and many areas provided the clays required for brick making.

The Remembrance of Mrs. Frankie Mae Jones Milus

Mom, it has been a very long and hard year without you. We Thank God for giving us the strength to make it each day. There Were days our hearts were so heavy with the pain we felt. Mom, Throughout our lives we knew we could turn to you to help us Think things through and help us figure out what direction was right for us. From the guidance you have given us to the Confidence you in stored in us and even to the wisdom you gave Us, it has made us stronger than you will know. But with all Of that, we were never too strong to know that we needed a little Help from our mother. When God called his daughter home on April 6, 2020, we knew the pain in your body was gone. We trust and believe in God that we will see our mom again! John 11:25 -26 Revelation 21:4, You are at home and with you Heavenly Father.
