PUC chair resigns in wake of call to energy investors

Arthur D’Andrea, the chair and sole remaining member of the Public Utility Commission resigned late last week at the request of Gov. Gregg Abbott. D’Andrea pledged to remain on the PUC until Abbott names a replacement. In the announcement, Abbott said in part, “Texans deserve to have trust and confidence in the Public Utility Commission, and this action is one of many steps that will be taken to achieve that goal.”

Our attendance just keeps dropping for one reason or another even tho we served twelve. Those present were Donna Lloyd, Ann Brown, Alma Stewart McCurry, Elizabeth Neason, Fonetta Simmons, Gayla Lind, Lorene Stembridge, Sue & Woody Wood, Janice Bilbrey, site mgr. Wayne Sharp and myself. Our menu for Thursday, March 18th will be Cornbread Casserole (that’s a new one on us), Pinto Beans, Steamed Cauliflower, Chocolate Pie, Tea/milk. Hope you can join us.

As was announced in last week’s Journal, the Groesbeck Ex-Students Association announced that Homecoming 2021 will be on Friday and Saturday, October 15th and 16th.

In the Gospel of Luke, chapter 17:11-19, there is a story concerning 10 leprous men who came to Jesus seeking healing, He spoke the word to them and all ten of them were healed. When the ten saw they were healed only one returned to thank Jesus.

Yours truly enjoyed a great weekend at Port Arkansas with Martha Stone and Sonya and Kirby Luechauer. The recent winter blast across nearly all parts of Texas appeared to have done damage to the palm trees and other such plants. Hopefully, these plants will survive.
