Sergeant Joe “Nook” Grimes: A Quiet Hero of World War II
From the fields of Box Church to the jungles of the South Pacific, Staff Sergeant Joe N. “Nook” Grimes carried with him a quiet determination, steady courage, and an uncommon devotion to his fellow Marines. Though remembered in his youth as a shy, unassuming boy from Limestone County, in the crucible of World War II he became one of Limestone County’s most decorated young warriors.
IMPORTANT NOTICE ON CITY OF GROESBECK WATER
The City of Groesbeck Water Treatment Plant will be switching disinfectants from Chloramines to Free Chlorine beginning September 1, 2025. This is a yearly routine process that must be done to ensure the drinking water continues to meet State standards. Some people may notice a slight change in taste or smell of the water which is normal. This changeover will continue until the end of September 2025 and will change back to Chloramines by October 1, 2025. GISD Approves Tax Rate of $0.9197
The Groesbeck ISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Scott Cummings held an efficient meeting on Monday, August 25, adopting the 2025 Tax Rate and the budget for the 2025-2026 school year in under half an hour.
