As with the article a couple of weeks ago that looked at the candidates appearing on the March 3 primary ballot for county positions, this week shifts to the broader picture: who will appear on the ballot for state, district, and area races in both primaries. To streamline coverage, we will focus only on contested races, with a more in-depth look at the primary winners— who will advance to the November ballot—coming later.
District realignments by the University of Interscholastic League (UIL) were announced on Monday morning, Feb. 2, at 9:00 a.m for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years.
The community is invited to celebrate with the Blackshear Washington Alumni Saturday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Groesbeck Middle School, 410 Elwood Enge Dr. This is an annual event that honors and commemorates both Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History Month.
