Yard of the Month

April 2026 Cynthia Ann Garden Club Yard of the Month. The home of Raymond and Peggy Sims. It’s in the Durham Addition on Frost Creek Avenue. It always is perfectly manicured and especially the flower beds are perfect. They do all the work themselves and do such a lovingly good job. Congratulations to this precious couple.

Garden Club Makes Visit

The Cynthia Ann Garden Club had its meeting at the Lake Limestone home of Wayne and Cecily Ball on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 10am. All who attended met at their home and they had such a beautiful place. Every bit of the yard, front and back, was meticulously tended and Cecily took us on a tour telling us each plant and each growing season for them. The plantings were surrounded by vibrant green St Augustine Grass and thoughtful pathways to help us on our tour. They were both gracious and perfect hosts. We all had such a wonderful time there. Afterwards, we all met at Old Union Eats and enjoyed their delicious food and a wonderful time of fellowship. What a wonderful pilgrimage.

Groesbeck Study Club Hosts Regular Meeting

The Groesbeck Study Club had its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Groesbeck Woman’s Club at 6 p.m. In the absence of our President, Kay Alston, Vice-President, Beth Westhoff, welcomed us all She then turned it over to Lea Hardison, who introduced us to Virginia Cox, owner of Merle Norman Boutique in Mexia and the program for the evening. Virginia had brought her friend, K K Holloway, to assist the models and be one herself and they presented us with a style show. Virginia first told us that Merle Norman Boutique had been established more than 40 years ago in 1982. She acquired the Merle less than 20 years ago and is the owner still. Under her ownership, they have expanded their product base and their online presence, which has helped them reach so many more customers. Sarah Myers and Brenda Copeland had constructed a beautiful balloon archway for the style show and Amy Rush had medley to play during the style show. Some of the club members were in the style show. The models were Beth Westhoff, K K Holloway, Sarah Bush, Shirley Richardson, Jeanne Beall, Peggy Beck, and Lea Hardison. The Merle has in their inventory clothes, shoes, accessories, including purses, belts, billfolds, hats, sunglasses, and all kinds of jewelry including Brighton. We all had a wonderful time watching all the beautiful finery and many thanks for Virginia for coming.
