Louisiana Tech offensive lineman Cyler Corn, a 2024 Groesbeck High School graduate, celebrates with his great-grandfather Walter Van De Weghe of Mexia after the Bulldogs defeated Coastal Carolina 23–14 to win the 2025 Independence Bowl. Corn, a second-year player at Louisiana Tech, was supported by family members who braved the cold to attend the game.

As many students enjoyed two weeks off for their Christmas break, many athletes only got a couple of days off as they had practice and were on the court playing ball. The following are hoop summaries from the central region over the break.
