Citizenship and Civic Responsibilities
As a citizen of the United States of America, born or naturalized, we have unalienable rights and privileges that were earned some 250 years before us, resulting in a protected society. Those rights and privileges were valiantly fought for and preserved by those who came before us. The instrument that protects us is called the United States Constitution. Simply put, the Constitution defines our rights as citizens and tells the Government how it will govern us through our representation of elected Congressmen, Senators, and other public officials who write our laws, determine how our taxes are spent and give us a Judicial system to determine justice.
