Let the days be merry and bright City holds holiday celebration

The City of Groesbeck started the December season with a grand celebration including a lighted parade, tree lighting, and a downtown holiday celebration on Sat. Dec. 4. The night started with Mayor Ray O’Docharty lighting the tree at the corner of Ellis and Navasota at the parkette. The lighted parade immediately followed conducted by parade coordinator Lisa Stewart and announced by Michelle Latray. After the parade, City Hall Square was booming with performances by the Studio Move dancers, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Grinch, elves, face painting, hot chocolate, s’mores cones, a Letters to Santa mailbox, and a vocal performance by Mrs. Loretta Dupree.

Retirement Party planned Thursday for Groesbeck Chamber Executive Director, Scooter Kennedy

A retirement party for Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Scooter Kennedy is planned for Thursday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. in the club room of the Groesbeck Convention Center. All are invited to attend. This will also serve as the annual Chamber Christmas party so make sure to wear your favorite ugly sweater. Refreshments will be served.

Grand Jury Indictments

The following indictments were handed down by the Limestone County Grand Jury on November 17. Those listed are not guilty unless and until a court finds otherwise. An indictment simply means there is enough evidence to warrant a trial.

Dump Trailer stolen from local business

A dump trailer was stolen from a business in the 1300 block of North Ellis Street in Groesbeck on Friday, December 3, 2021, at approximately 3:15 a.m. The suspects were in what appeared to be a white, four-door, Ford F-350 dually pickup with chrome rims and amber cab lights. The dump trailer was a black, bumper-pull style trailer bearing the name “Texas Pride” and temporary license plate number 982-352K.
