“I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgements” (Ps. 119:7). This is the seventh title given the Word of God in the prayer of Psalms 119. Only God can give forth righteous judgement in accordance with his word. We may judge others, but God will judge us and we will bow before him in worship of what he has done for us and who he is. “But why dost thou judge thy brother, or why dost thou set at nought thy brother “for we shall all stand before the judgement seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So, then every one of us shall give account of himself to God” (Rom. 10:10-12). Our prayer life should be directed by the very Word of God, which will allow us to stand before the righteous judgement of God not depending on our own efforts but on the very Word of God. How have you handled the Word of God? When you pray how often have you used scripture in your prayer?
