Thornton Homecoming King 2026 Michael Adams

Hello, I’m Michael Adams. I was born in Groesbeck, Texas, on June 3, 1948, and have lived most of my life in Thornton. I’m the son of Mary McDade Adams and JC Adams Jr. I started school in 1955, in Thornton in the first grade and my first and second grade teacher was Mrs. Loretta Caldwell. Both grades were in one room with one teacher. Mrs. Caldwell was the wife of Mr. T.E Caldwell was the Superintendent of Thornton schools. My third and fourth grade teacher was Mrs Pearl McLennan. My fifth and sixth grade teacher was Mrs. Alice Kidd. She loved teaching us about science and art. Mostly Art from my memories. My seventh and eighth grade teachers were Mrs. Gladys Black and Coach E.S. Ellis, Jr. I went through my 8th grade year in Thornton.

Commandments of God

Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments” (Ps. 119:6). When we pray and apply the commandments of God, His Word, then we have nothing to be ashamed of. The word commandment means, “the idea of prohibition.” When the children of Israel left the commandments of God they became idolaters. “And they left all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal” (2 Ki. 17:16). If we leave God and His Word out of our prayer life we can become as the children of Israel and start to worship idols. “And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoida the priest, which stood above the people, and said unto them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the commandments of the Lord, that ye cannot prosper? Because ye have forsaken the Lord, he hath also forsaken you” (2 Chr. 24:20). How often is it that each of us neglect just praying during the day? How often have we failed to attend church? How often have we neglected to tell someone about the love of Jesus? Pray for wisdom to follow the commandments of God.
