Two local residents lost their lives in a tragic traffic collision Thursday morning at the intersection of State Highway 164 and FM 39, east of Groesbeck, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The 4th Annual VFD Thornton Fish Fry is happening this Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. at the Mary Helen Nance Community Center. Attendees can enjoy a hearty meal featuring fried fish, French fries, coleslaw, pinto beans, hush puppies, banana pudding, tea, and water. Plates are $15 each, with to-go options available.
Thornton City Council Approves Tractor Purchase
The Thornton City Council held its first meeting since April on Monday, July 14. Council members Carla Robison and Pam Capps were not in attendance; however, there were enough members present for a quorum, so they proceeded to old business.
